and there has been a lot that has happened.
I got married to the beautifully charming Julie Trump.
We bought a house in Centerville and are continuing the
gardening ways.
It's now week 5 (sorry, I was delayed in posting
updated pictures). After planting the corn about five
weeks ago I figured it was time to fertilize. I used a
12-6-6 combination to get some nitrogen back into
the soil after last year.
Once again we're using Serendipity corn seeds, which
gives the 'candy corn' look. I know you can't wait to
taste it.
This is my poor attempt to plant green beans. Julie was putting plenty of seeds in the ground, I thought it was too many. This is the result of Shawn's style...no beans grew! Good work Shawn. They have since been replanted and hopefully are growing back.
This is supposed to be zucchini, cucumber, and squash. It looks like the zucchini is growing well...as usual. The cucumber looks fine, and I can't tell if the squash plant is actually a weed that looks like squash or if it's really squash. I need the KSL Green House Show to enlighten me on this one. I know...rookie gardener.
We heard that you're supposed put tomatoes in different locations from the previous year, we're rebels however and put them in the exact same place. I hope they grow!
We also put in broccoli, cauliflower, and peppers right next to the tomatoes. All of them have been hit and miss in previous years, here's hoping for a banner year.
We just put in 800 square feet of sod in our backyard. In the process we had a few strips leftover. What do we do with it? Hmmm...let's put it by the shed! So, now we have this small section of sod bordering the garden and next to the shed. It's so tempting to put in sprinklers and fill in the entire area next to the shed...stay tuned...it might happen in an upcoming blog post. The tension is too much!

I would prefer is you didn't speak in the 3rd person. I mean who is writing? Shawn or someone else?
