Hello blog world. I know you were all on the edge of your
seats waiting for the update of week 6. Unfortunately for
all of you I was on vacation. Hopefully for all of you, you
had something else to keep yourselves busy.
The corn is looking great. I've thinned the stocks to one
per spot. However I'm realizing that I shouldn't have
planted all of them at the same time, because now I'm going
to have corn coming out my ears in August/September.
The peas ripened at exactly the wrong time, while we were on vacation. They are now over ripe and are ready to be removed.
The beans are a mystery to me. They were replanted two weeks ago and they really aren't growing. What's their problem?!
The two zucchini plants have done great. We've already picked two of them and can't wait to eat them. I found out that the plant that I thought was squash, was actually something that had been spread throughout our garden by the previous owner. Apparently when the mature, they are good looking flowers over 7 feet tall. Whoops, I thought it was a weed and I pulled it out.
So as of right now, we have either a cucumber or a squash growing, but not both.
The tomatoes are growing like weeds, so much that they are taking over the peppers.
The cauliflower and broccoli plants are looking good, but I don't see vegetables growing yet. Stay tuned.
Last but not least, our little sod patch is still alive, but as you can see it didn't like the week vacation. And no, I'm not going to put in sprinklers for it...yet. So, it will continue to be hand water supplemented.
